Gil has agreed to act as President for the upcoming year.
Gil has already been taking President elect training courses. “Apparently you can teach an old dog new tricks”!
We have a very eager Assistant Governor this year.
Our club still needs a treasurer. We are looking for volunteers.
Brenda has agreed to fill the role of President Elect. As such she will be working closely with Gil over the coming term.
Financial Report
Drag Races have been cancelled for this year (One of our major sources of income).
Adventures in Citizenship are asking if we will donate the monies we already paid for the (now cancelled) program. A portion of those monies are already non-refundable.
We have not been paying rent at the Masonic Lodge.
Our balances are healthy at present.
We want to do something for the community around COVID.
How much of our finances can we utilize?
We can utilize Bingo funds for the Food Bank.
We should do some sort of needs assessment.
Kim: Likes the idea of providing iPads to palliative patients to connect with loved ones.
Rotary COVID Grant Program
The district will provide matching funds in $2,000 chunks up to a total of $10,000.
Grants are also available.
Gil has been certified to apply for grants.
We can apply for grants this year to receive next year.
Community Support
Strike a committee to research local needs.
Jenna, Dave, and Douglas volunteered.
If any Rotarians have any insight into community needs at this time, they are asked to call or email Douglas.
Scheduled Events
Drag Races are cancelled
Pride committee will be looking to see if they can do something late in the year (September?).
Golf Tournament.
We will be lucky if we can hold it.
Businesses are hurting. If tournament is a go we can not ask for donations and instead use it as free advertising for those business that have been supportive with us in the past. (At our cost)
Linda has declined to assist this year.
Meeting Schedule
We do not plan on renting the Masonic Lodge for the foreseeable future.
Gil will contact the Lodge and advise them of our situation/decision.
We will continue to hold weekly meetings for the present time, subject to ongoing reassessment.
Due to conflicting schedules, next week we will hold the meeting on Wednesday May 6, at 7 pm.
