Guest, Jennifer McGillivray, from the Northern Ontario School of Medicine presented to the club on the topic of: NOSM, 15 years on and where they are going.

100 Elliot Lakers Who Care

  • We will be holding the event in late January.
  • Banking is switched over. Now we can accept donations via e-transfer.
  • We also have set-up a business savings account dedicated to 100 ELWC.
    • Donations to 100 ELWC will go directly to this account.
    • This frees up our other account for administrative uses.
  • Next steps will be setting up a “Square” account and advertising.
  • Will be setting it up so that the email address that sends in the donation will be the one that gets to vote.
  • Projects will remain capital specific.

Bad News

  • Members can soon expect to receive invoices for club dues.
  • Payment can be made via e-transfer; or, members paying with a cheque can send to the clubs P.O. Box.
    • Instructions will be found on the invoice itself.

Good News

  • District has surplus grant dollars!
  • This was a late announcement and required a fast turnaround. As such our club indicated that we would be interested in receiving some of the grant.
  • We were one of only 13 applicants. It appears that we will be receiving approximately $800.
  • These grant dollars can be used to purchase/supply PPE.
  • It appears that there is no requirement for matching grant dollars from our club.

Finances

  • Despite having no source of revenue, our balance is healthy.
  • A fuller accounting will be presented to the club at a future meeting (this meeting was running late).

Santa Claus Parade

  • The question was asked if we will be asked to assist with its operation this year.
  • It will be held on November 26.
  • There is a different format for this year due to concerns over COVID safety.
  • At this point we have not been approached; but, Jenna will contact Darla Hennessy and report back to the club.
