Tulips

  • Looks like our club wants to participate in the District Tulip bulb sales.
  • From a brief survey is appears that most, not all, of the sales will be to club members.
  • A box of 25 Tulips is $25. Rotarians wishing to purchase box(s) can send their money to Gil (e-transfer or cheque).
  • We are only being offered 10 boxes initially and sales will be on a first come, first served basis.
  • Deadline for this sale is May 31st. The tulips will be delivered in time for fall planting.
  • An email will be sent around to club members.
 

India COVID Relief Fund

  • An appeal received from District 7010 is seeking support from clubs to assist India’s battle against COVID-19.
  • The District will match donations towards the purchase of Oxygen concentrators.
    • Each concentrator costs $1000.00 (includes shipping and handling).
  • Donations need to be received before May 17th.
  • Funds could come from Adventures in Citizenship (was budgeted for but will not be running this year due to COVID).
    • Motion from Bill to donate $1000.00 to this relief fund.
    • Seconded by Kim
    • Passed.
 

Bike Racks

  • “Getting in the way” at the manufacturers.
  • Public Works is picking up the racks this week.
  • Public Relations photos will take place after the lock-down has been lifted.
 

COVID Relief Grant

  • Picture from Meals on Wheels utilizing the PPE was received.
  • We will use this as a part of our final report to the district.
 

Virtual RYLA

  • Sam, regretfully, had to withdraw from the program due to conflicting work schedule.
 

Faye Steele

  • Kim has been in contact with Lochaber Rotary Club in Scotland regarding honour being bestowed upon Faye. (Honorary membership)
  • Kim has been coordinating with local media to cover the story.
 

COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic

  • Update from John.
    • Last meeting approx. 35% of Elliot Lake vaccinated. As of this week, approx. 43%. This does not include residents vaccinated at Shoppers Drug Mart.
 

Happy Thoughts

Kim: Mother’s Day Youth Exchange celebration.
Dave: Back in Elliot Lake (but in quarantine).
Wayne: Callum finished courses. Sarah accepted to Queens.
Bill: Emlyn new client from San Francisco.
Brenda: Leah will be attending school in Kingston.
Chris: Became a year older with a two-day celebration.
